Hampr does not use usernames and passwords for login. Instead, it uses OpenID, a decentralized digital identity service. OpenID gives you the power of single sign-in: no more remembering hundreds of usernames and passwords! Instead, you sign into one of a number of public identity providers, and OpenID-enabled sites like Hampr ask your identity provider for permission to let you log in. Hampr never sees your OpenID password, and cannot hijack your account on other OpenID-enabled sites.
There are a number of public identity providers available. Any will work with Hampr. Most likely, you already have an OpenID, and you just don't know it! Here are a few common sites that are automatically OpenID identity providers:
In addition, Google uses a variation of OpenID for single sign-in. To sign in to Hampr with your Google account, please use the link above.
There are also a huge number of sites that are dedicated OpenID providers. Among the most popular are:
Signing up for an identity provider only takes a few minutes, and once you do so, you not only gain access to Hampr, but hundreds of other sites that use the OpenID system!
Here's the best part: Once you have an OpenID, all you have to do is log in to Hampr. If you've never used Hampr with your OpenID before, the Hampr system will realize this, create a few demo bookmarks for you, and give you a small tutorial. Easy.
To repeat: To sign up for Hampr, simply log in with your OpenID. That's it!
